Welcome to my campaign website, Deborah Castle Doyle here I am the new TN State House of Representative candidate for District 78. This District includes all of Cheatham County and parts of Dickson County.

I have lived in Ashland City for about 35 years and it is now my hometown. I feel that listening and problem solving is necessary to faithfully and fully represent the constituents of District 78, and everyone deserves to be heard. As your representative, I will listen to each and every constituent and carry their message forward to the State House.

My concerns for the county and State run contrary to the current District Representative who has voted with the majority party regardless of the impact on Cheatham and Dickson residents, and, in my view, has not done enough to address our counties’ needs. Our rural school systems are in jeopardy of funding loss with statewide voucher bill. She voted for the eminent domain laws that indulge the TVA and their contractors to take homes, farms, land, water resources in the name of providing energy to the grid and reducing us to becoming Nashville’s battery, and we gain nothing from it only loss. This is not acceptable representation.

Women in our state are under represented from a lack of women in the Capitol. With women’s and families right to choose their reproductive health is dangerous and deadly. I feel that more women in the House means more women’s voices will be actually heard and more meaningful bills considered and passed.

The current Representative has given the TVA and their enablers a free pass to our land, homes, and farms, and, in doing so, deprived District 78 of its voice.

Through activism in my hometown, I have seen how certain neighborhoods in the county are now and have been detrimentally affected by unwise zoning and poorly planned economic development decisions. By engaging with community members well beyond my immediate neighborhood, I came to understand fact that regionally rural areas are being targeted by the TVA and other external interest groups in way that inflict loss of private property rights, contribute to the lack of forest and farm land conservation, and, taken as a whole, infringe on the small town way of life that is so treasured in Cheatham and Dickson Counties.

The current District Representative voted for and has enabled the eminent domain laws and has indulged by the TVA and their contractors in a manner that will forever change our home  if allowed to move forward. I am offering a new and just representation for this District. I am committed to protecting the rights of every family who, like me, calls Cheatham and Dickson Counties home. I will hear each and every voice in my community and carry your voices across this State. As a member of this community, and if elected, as your representative, I will continue to stand wholeheartedly for the constituents and the best interests of District 78.
